EXHIBITION DATES: JANUARY 10 - 30, 2026
The primary color of yellow can be approached photographically in a straight forward manner in all of its tints, tones and shades. Yellow can be used as the actual subject matter when a composition is predominantly comprised of the color or used in juxtaposition to other hues. Sunshine, lemon, gold, and blonde represent the hue. Yellow can be apprached as a tertiary color lying on the color spectrum as yellow-green such as chartrusse and olive or yellow-orange such as saffron and amber. Many phases using the color yellow can be found in popular culture: we call it mellow yellow, the yellow brick road, yellow submarine. To be timid, faint-hearted, having a yellow streak, or a golden opportunity, even the twilight of life in our golden years all can be used to portray the psychological implications of the hue. The yellow leaves of fall bekon as the vibrant green of new growth fades. Yellow being one of the brightest hues shining on the color wheel, yellow is a highlight, it draws attention. Yellow as a subject matter can be photographed from a variety of viewpoints, capturing images of yellow literally or conceiving photographs of yellow conceptually. Among all of the various approaches to the concept of yellow, the photographs featured in the Yellow exhibition will encompass a wide range of images of the interpretation of the color of yellow.
