INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY

"Fantasy in Reality" will celebrate the art of photography and the vibrant culture that surrounds the making of role-play photographs. Through the lenses of talented photographers, this exhibiiton captures the creativity and passion that go into the act of character creation and the crafting and portrayal of characters taken from various genres, such as fan favorite comics, movies, TV shows, theater, drag shows, video games, music and literature. 

This exhibition will explore not just images of the creations of these talented artists, but also offers a peek "behind the mask," so to speak. Whether it's dress-up in mid-creation of their costume or displaying their finished work at gatherings and meet-ups, showcasing in their element. Each photograph will display the incredible attention to detail and craftsmanship that photographers bring to their costumes and performances. Beyond the visual spectacle, it is this curator's hope that the featured photographs will effectively relay this experience.

We hope that "Fantasy in Reality" will encourage viewers to embrace and discover a new appreciation for the creativity that goes into the act of dress-up, masquerade and role-play photography. This upcoming exhibition is sure to delight and inspire.

Various approaches to the concept of character creation are considered. All photographic media is welcome. Entries will be considered based upon the individual images submitted by each artist. A brief artist statement is optional. Selected artists will have their work featured in the exhibition and online.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

Select the number of images and click "add to cart". Check out at the PayPal form. Email your photographs to info@mwcponline.org in jpeg format: 72 dpi, no larger than 3000 x 3000 pixels. Name each file with your name and the corresponding number from the entry information below, for example: smith_jane_1.jpg. List the information requested below in a text document (Microsoft Word or PDF) titled with your name. Attach your photographs and info, and email to info@mwcponline.org. Provide the following information for each image submitted:

NOTIFICATION OF SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS

Selected photographers will be posted online at www.mwcponline.com. Our group email will be sent with a list of names of selected photographers. Photographers who entered should check this information for the list of names.

EXHIBITION FORMAT

The format for this exhibition is such that we will not be shipping any artwork. All photographic works will be printed digitally as inkjet prints to hang on the wall for the exhibition in standard size rental frames.

INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATING PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE EXHIBITION

Selected photographers must submit high resolution JPEG files and MWCP will print your exhibition quality image for the exhibition at no cost to you. Prints will be exhibited in standard size frames rented by MWCP for a $20 fee. Exhibition prints will be either 13" X 19" or 16" X 24" if rectangle, and either 10" X 10" or 20" X 20" if square. Frame sizes will be determined by gallery director. After the close of the exhibition, photographers have the option to purchase the print(s) , or the framed print(s) at our standard service pricing and we will ship it to you. We will not be shipping prints to photographers unless the charge for print(s) and shipping costs have been paid. Remaining prints will be featured for sale in the gallery flat files for a period of one year. After the end of the one year period, prints will remain in the MWCP permanant collection, or discarded at the request of the photographer. Photo copyright remains with the photographer at all times.

ASSOCIATED FEES AND INFORMATION

There is a 40% gallery commission for work sold. MWCP reserves the right to reproduce images for promotional and publication purposes, if necessary. Not all photographers who enter the call for entries will be selected for the exhibition, and photographers who are selected may not have all individual images chosen to be included in the exhibition. Any files that differ significantly from the entry, arrive at the gallery after the deadline, or is sub-standard quality will be disqualified from the exhibit. Photographers must provide payment for shipment if purchasing their printed work, MWCP is not responsible for any shipping charge, work is handled with professional care, MWCP cannot be responsible for damage or loss during shipping. Email addresses will be added to our email list. Entry fees are non-refundable, no exceptions.
